Bruno Lage has refused to confirm whether Diego Costa will make his Wolves debut at West Ham this weekend.
Costa signed a short-term deal with Wolves earlier this month as Lage look to bolster his attacking options, with summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic ruled out for an extended period after sustaining an ACL injury on debut.
Wolves are the joint-lowest scorers in the Premier League this season and have scored just three goals from their seven fixtures. Last season, Wolves were the lowest scorers in the division, aside from the three relegated teams.
Raul Jimenez has also missed the last three fixtures, but Lage resisted the temptation to include Costa during the defeat to Manchester City before the international break.
The 33-year-old has not featured since leaving Brazilian side in Atlético Mineiro and the Wolves boss insists it will take time for the veteran forward to get up to speed in the Premier League.
“Let’s see tomorrow. What I can say is he spent a long time without playing, a long time without training,” he told his pre-match press conference.
”The Premier League is a different level. Sometimes you need to protect him a little bit but in the moments with the team he is training very well.”
