Besiktas president Fikret Orman is keen to sign on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius on a permanent basis.

The German goalkeeper joined the Turkish side in the summer having lost his place at Anfield to new arrival Alisson Becker and, despite making an indifferent start to life at the club, he has done enough to impress the president.

“Karius is an excellent keeper, God willing we will sign him on a permanent transfer,” he told Besiktas’s club channel BJK TV.

“These stories are complete nonsense. Give Karius some time is all I’m saying. Karius has a lot of work to do but give him time.”

Karius, 25, has struggled for form in recent times and departed Liverpool following two high-profile mistakes in last seasons Champions League final.

The German signed for Besiktas on a two-year loan arrangement, although recent reports had suggested this may be cut short after a difficult start to life in Turkey.
