Bayern Munich keen on Man City’s Sane

Bayern Munich are keen on a deal for Manchester City and Germany star Leroy Sane.

The German champions are looking to overhaul their squad this summer, as they look to compete for the Champions League next season.

Niko Kovac’s side were eliminated in the first knock-out round following a 3-1 home defeat to Liverpool, with the club’s hierarchy wanting an improvement on that performance following years of dominance domestically.

German international Sane’s current deal at the Etihad expires in 2021, though City director of football Txiki Begiristian is believed to be concerned over the 23-year-old’s refusal to sign several improved offers.

City boss Pep Guardiola would prefer the winger remained at the club, though the club are keen to avoid a situation in which the player’s contract runs down and his value diminishes, and according to the Daily Record Sane has been given permission to talk to Bayern.

Sane has also had conflict with Guardiola this season, with the former Schalke player believed to be unhappy with his status in the City squad.

The 2018 PFA Young Player of the Year was restricted to just 21 league starts this season, scoring 10 goals as City were crowned back-to-back champions.

Bayern are now want to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding Sane’s future, targeting the winger to replace outgoing veterans Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
