Chelsea are reportedly preparing a ‘massive bid’ to sign Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez.
Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are both weighing up approaches for the 23-year-old, in the belief Barcelona could be tempted to cash in, amid economic issues.
According to CaughtOffside, both clubs are preparing proposals with PSG set to table an ‘offer worth around €80million’.
The report states that Chelsea are also considering a ‘massive bid’ for Lopez, who has started the season in fine form. The Spain international has scored four times and provided three assists in nine La Liga appearances, for a Barcelona side who have averaged four goals per game under Hansi Flick.
Lopez has turned down past interest from Chelsea, and is understood to be happy at the Camp Nou. However, rival sides are willing to test Barcelona’s resolve with big bids for Fermin, given the club’s ongoing financial problems.
With Estevao Willian linked with an exit, Chelsea want to add another goalscoring threat to their options. Lopez could compete with Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer for a place in Xabi Alonso’s 3-4-2-1 system.
Lopez has scored 37 goals in 148 games for Barcelona since signing for the club from Real Betis as a teenager. He was named in La Liga’s Team of the Season in 2025/26 after the Catalan club’s title success.
