Barcelona are close to securing new contracts for Gavi and Ronald Araujo as the club look to ward off interest from the Premier League.
The Spanish side are hopeful of confirming new deals for the duo this month, with both having less than 18 months remaining on their contracts and attracting significant interest from English clubs.
Gavi has enjoyed a brilliant breakthrough season at Barcelona and became the youngest ever player to represent Spain when making his senior debut in October, though the 17-year-old remains on a youth contract worth just €100,000-per-season and which contains a release clause of €50m.
Sport are reporting that the Catalan side will offer Gavi a new five-year contract which will raise his release clause – a requirement for players in Spain – to €1bn, matching the figures of Pedri, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres as the club look to rebuild around their homegrown core.
Araujo will receive a similar rise as Barcelona look to retain their best young talent, with the centre-back having attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Uruguayan international wants to remain at the Camp Nou after becoming a regular across the past two seasons and an agreement is expected to be reached on a new long-term contract for the 22-year-old.
