Antoine Griezmann will not be a replacement for Philippe Coutinho at Barcelona, according to the Brazilian’s agent.
Atletico Madrid star Griezmann this week announced his intention to leave the club after five years in the Spanish capital, with Barcelona believed to be ready to trigger the £108m release clause in the Frenchman’s contract.
Former Liverpool playmaker Coutinho has been linked with a summer exit from the Nou Camp, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly interested in the 26-year-old. However, the player’s agent, Andrea Bertolucci, reckons Griezmann’s impending arrival does will spell the end for his client.
“It’s untrue that Griezmann is going to replace Philippe at Barcelona,” Bertolucci told AS.
“I don’t know why they are saying that. I don’t know about that and that’s why I don’t want to talk anymore, but it’s false.”
Barcelona had previously expressed an interest in Griezmann last summer, before the French World Cup winner decided to stay with Diego Simeone’s side.
The Spanish champions are believed to be seeking a long-term replacement for forward Luis Suarez, with the Uruguayan set to turn 33 next season.
