Atletico Madrid are being linked with a move for Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez as a potential replacement for Antoine Griezmann.
Atletico star Griezmann announced his intention to leave Diego Simeone’s side this summer after five years in the Spanish capital, with the French World Cup winner being strongly linked with a move to La Liga rivals Barcelona.
According to Chilean publication Redgol, Atletico could potentially replace Griezmann with Manchester United misfit Alexis Sanchez, who has already attracted the attentions of Inter Milan and Juventus after being deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
United are desperate to offload Sanchez following his torrid time since joining from Arsenal in January 2018, scoring just three league goals in 18 months after suffering from injuries and a drastic loss of form.
The Chilean is reported to be the Premier League‘s highest-paid player on a huge £500,000-a-week deal, with United now ready to cut their losses on a player who has proven a major disappointment.
Atletico Madrid boss Simeone could be set to hand Sanchez a lifeline by bringing the forward back to Spain, Sanchez having previously spent three successful seasons at Barcelona before moving to the Premier League in 2014.
