Emiliano Buendia is expected to leave Norwich this summer despite their promotion to the Premier League with Arsenal admirers of the midfielder.
Buendia was instrumental in the Canaries’ promotion as Championship title winners in 2020/21, scoring 15 league goals and leading the division with 16 assists for Daniel Farke’s side.
The Argentine had impressed despite Norwich’s relegation from the Premier League the previous season and has been routinely linked with a move away from Carrow Road, with Arsenal amongst the clubs linked with the 24-year-old as Mikel Arteta seeks additional midfield creativity.
The Athletic are reporting that Norwich have already received enquiries from a ‘major continental outfit’ regarding Buendia’s availability, following the star’s first call-up to the Argentina squad this month.
Arsenal’s interest is perhaps dependent on the future of Martin Odegaard with the Gunners keen to extend the Norway international’s loan spell from Real Madrid, though alternatives are being discussed with Buendia winning admirers in technical director Edu and Arteta.
Aston Villa have also been linked with a player who could cost around £40m, with Norwich set to make a huge profit on a player signed for just €1.5m from Getafe in 2018.
Norwich will also listen to offers for both Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell if significant bids arrive, the Canaries prepared to allow some of their leading names to leave for the right price.
