Carlo Ancelotti has called on Everton to use all of their ‘energy’ as the club bid to secure European football for next season.
Everton travel to face Aston Villa in the Premier League tomorrow evening looking to continue their push for continental qualification, last weekend’s 1-0 win at fellow hopefuls West Ham leaving the Toffees eighth with four games of the season remaining.
The Merseyside club have not secured qualification to Europe since featuring in the Europa League’s group stages in 2017/18, but improvement this term has left Everton with a strong chance ahead of a defining period.
Victory at Villa Park will see Everton move above Tottenham and level on points with fifth-placed West Ham in the race for Europe, with Ancelotti once again calling on his side to give their all ahead of the run-in.
“The team has improved,” Ancelotti told his pre-match press conference.
“We have more knowledge and confidence. We had a fantastic result away in the derby [against Liverpool] so it has to be considered a good season.
“We are still in the fight for Europe and we want to use all of our energy to reach our target.
“It is vital against Aston Villa, as it was against West Ham, and I hope the team can repeat their performance.”
