Carlo Ancelotti is targeting five wins from Everton’s remaining seven fixtures as the Toffees bid to secure a place in Europe next season.
Everton have enjoyed a season of progress during Ancelotti’s first full campaign in charge and remain in pursuit of continental qualification ahead of Friday evening’s clash with fellow hopefuls Arsenal.
Ancelotti’s side currently sit eighth in the Premier League, six points adrift of the top four and Champions League places with a game-in-hand on the sides above them.
Tomorrow’s clash sees Everton face an Arsenal side just one place behind them in the table at present and Ancelotti has revealed what he thinks it will take to see his side secure a return to Europe next season.
“I’m sure [we can get into Europe],” Ancelotti told evertontv.
“We have seven games until the end of the season and we need to win five to be in Europe. We have to keep fighting. We still have seven games and the race is there.
“Of course, we dropped four points in the draws with Crystal Palace and Tottenham when we deserved to win. Against Tottenham, we pressed with intensity and didn’t give them the opportunity to create chances. We were more active defensively and the defensive line was a little bit higher.
“We missed some chances. We must try to avoid this. At this level, it is important to avoid mistakes.”
