Carlo Ancelotti has called on Everton to be ‘brave’ as they look to secure European qualification ahead of the Premier League’s run-in.
Everton have made notable progress under Ancelotti this season and sit eighth in the table at present, five points adrift of the Champions League places with a game-in-hand on the sides above them.
Ancelotti’s side host Crystal Palace this weekend and will be looking to improve on their disappointing home form this season, having won just five of 14 fixtures at Goodison Park during the 2020/21 campaign.
Ancelotti has made no secret of his ambitions during his first full season in charge of the Toffees, insisting the target must be to secure a place in Europe for next season as Everton look to compete with the Premier League’s best.
The Italian has now called on his side to be ‘brave and consistent’ ahead of the run-in, as the Merseyside club seek to return to continental competition for the first time since the 2017/18 season.
“We did well until now because if you asked us where we would like to be in the last ten games of the season we would answer we want to be fighting for European positions – we are there.” Ancelotti told his pre-match press conference.
“Difficult games coming up, yes but the target is there and if we are brave and consistent I think we can reach the target.”
