Of course, it wasn’t long before United fans were re-living the sensational goal that the talented youngster scored on his debut against arch-rivals Liverpool in 2015.

People have also been highlighting how much the young Frenchman has been enjoying working under new United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

One eagle-eyed fan did notice that maybe Sky Sports were being a little bit too generous with Martial’s scoring rate under Solskjaer though.

With David De Gea also rumoured to be close to signing a new deal after plenty of speculation surrounding his future, United fans are in fine spirits, whatever changed at Old Trafford in the last month?

Oh yeah, Jose Mourinho left the club after trying to sell Martial in the summer, and fans are pretty sure that’s the main reason why the former Monaco man wouldn’t commit his future to United until now.
A month ago Martial contract talks were at a stand still, Mourinho gets sacked & now it’s all but a done deal on a new contract. Can’t be a coincidence can it ? #MUFC

Many of the leading lights of the Football world are under no illusions as to why Martial and his teammates have an extra spring in their step as of late.
