Fantasy Premier League: Three Replacements For Harry Kane

Spurs striker Harry Kane is out of action until March at least, so who should you replace him with in your Fantasy Premier League team?

Losing Kane with ankle ligament damage is a huge blow not just to Spurs, but more importantly the FPL fraternity. We are weeping at the thought of being without one of the most consistent players in the Premier League over the last four years.

And yet, this is also a huge opportunity: Kane’s price tag of £12.5 is prohibitive, but with him gone for the time being it frees up some cash to spend on the rest of your team. Let’s take a look at three of the very best options to replace him with in your team for Gameweek 23 – these are the elite of the elite in FPL.

All statistics relate to the last four gameweeks unless otherwise stated.

Manchester United are finally getting the very best out of their young starlet three years after he burst onto the scene and forced his way into England’s Euro 2016 squad as a teenager. Rashford has already equalled his biggest tally for league goals in a season, hitting the net seven times thus far.

Under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his finishing has improved, and the numbers reflect that. In his last four games Rashford has expected goals (xG) of 3.1 and has scored… three goals, which means he’s getting into great positions to score and finishing his chances. He’s had 12 shots inside the box and 10 on target, making him one of the busiest and most clinical strikers in the league right now.

No forward has more FPL involvements than his five, and with United’s fixtures looking great for the next while expect him to add to that over the next month.

Roberto Firmino – £9.3

When it comes to value for money, only Rashford beats the Brazilian attacker. Roberto Firmino has four goals in his last four games with an xG of 3.0. No one has created more big chances than him either, while his total of eight shots on target is impressive.

The main advantage of having Liverpool players is that they are unlikely to have a blank week after getting knocked out of the FA Cup, while their upcoming fixtures are excellent with just one top six side to play in their next nine league games.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – £11.3

A like-for-like replacement, Aubameyang has the highest points total of any forward in FPL right now. With Kane now set to miss a significant portion of the season, it’s unlikely anyone will catch up with him – and there’s good reason to think so.

The Gabon striker has created five big chances of late (the same amount as Firmino), 12 shots inside the box (same as Rashford), and has an xG of 2.9, which is only slightly behind the other two.

Although his end product has not been as impressive in that time, providing two goals and an assist, his underlying stats tell us that he is very good at football. Who knew?

Arsenal’s fixtures are not amazing, with Chelsea and Manchester City upcoming, but there are games with Cardiff, Huddersfield and Southampton on the horizon.

Fixtures: CHE (H), CAR (H), MCI (A)
