Twitter reacts to Martial new Manchester United contract news

Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial is set to sign a new long-term contract with the Old Trafford club, according to reports.

Sky Sports are reporting that the 23-year-old France international is set to end months of speculation surrounding his future and put pen to paper on a new five-year deal.

As always, the good people of Football Twitter have been reacting to the news, and here are some of the best tweets about the man Red Devils fans affectionately call Tony Marshall:

It’s fair to say Manchester United fans are delighted to see one of their most popular players commit himself to the club.

Of course, it wasn’t long before United fans were re-living the sensational goal that the talented youngster scored on his debut against arch-rivals Liverpool in 2015.

And this crucial strike in the FA Cup semi-final against Everton in 2016.

As well as the day he sent Andros Townsend for a hot dog!

Actually, let’s see that again to watch Townsend reaction!

People have also been highlighting how much the young Frenchman has been enjoying working under new United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In fact, Martial became the first United player to back Solskjaer for the full-time managers job earlier today.

One eagle-eyed fan did notice that maybe Sky Sports were being a little bit too generous with Martial’s scoring rate under Solskjaer though.

With David De Gea also rumoured to be close to signing a new deal after plenty of speculation surrounding his future, United fans are in fine spirits, whatever changed at Old Trafford in the last month?

Oh yeah, Jose Mourinho left the club after trying to sell Martial in the summer, and fans are pretty sure that’s the main reason why the former Monaco man wouldn’t commit his future to United until now.

Many of the leading lights of the Football world are under no illusions as to why Martial and his teammates have an extra spring in their step as of late.

Let’s finish up by just saying always believe in yourself, just look how far Tony has come in the last 10 years!
