Aston Villa have agreed a deal with AS Roma that will see Donyell Malen join the Italian side on loan.
Villa have granted Malen permission to fly to Rome today to conclude a loan move to the Serie A side. The Dutch international joined Aston Villa from Borussia Dortmund last January but has made just six starts in the Premier League.
Roma have now made their move, with an initial £2m loan fee agreed, alongside a £25m mandatory purchase option.
Gian Piero Gasperni’s side have moved for Malen after missing out on the signing of Giacomo Raspadori. The latter has favoured a return to Atalanta from Atletico Madrid.
The addition of Malen will boost a Roma side still in pursuit of the Scudetto. The capital club are fifth in the standings but just four points behind leaders Inter Milan.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, plan to bolster their squad this month. Brian Madjo has arrived from Metz in a deal worth around £10m, while there’s interest in re-signing former loanee Tammy Abraham.
A midfielder is also on the radar, after missing out to Tottenham in the race for Conor Gallagher.
