Zouma: Everton needs to get back to winning ways asap

Everton’s Kurt Zouma says it is important the Toffees get back to winning ways as soon as possible after following up last weekend’s Merseyside Derby defeat with a 1-1 home draw with Newcastle on Wednesday evening.

Despite the home side’s dominance, Newcastle opened the scoring at Goodison through Solomon Rondon (19) before Richarlison’s 7th Premier League goal of the season (38) salvaged a point for Everton.

It proved a frustrating night for Goodison Park outfit, who enjoyed 76% of the possession, the result however maintaining the Blue’s sixth-placed position in the table.

“Richarlison is flying but we were a bit unlucky and we could have scored more in the first half. We need to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible.” Zouma told the BBC.

Zouma also came to the defence of under-fire goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after the England international’s error lead to Divock Origi’s winner for Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

“We know Jordan is different class but we are all together in this.” He added.
