Wolves vs Blackburn Rovers – Predicted lineup and team news

Wolves vs Blackburn Rovers - Predicted lineup and team news ahead of Championship opener.

Wolves welcome Blackburn Rovers to Molineux in the opening fixture of the 2026/27 Championship season.

Wolves are aiming to bounce back from Premier League relegation with a push for promotion under new head coach Cesar Peixoto. The former Gil Vicente coach led Wolves to a 3-0 win over Port Vale in the Carabao Cup to kickstart his reign.

Peixoto has been unable to strengthen significantly over the summer with Wolves quiet in the market, though veterans Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez have arrived, alongside £7m signing Rafiki Said.

Blackburn finished 20th in the second tier last season but have had an encouraging pre-season, which included the scalp of Ligue 1 side Strasbourg. Rovers also progressed in the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 win at Burton.

Wolves team news

Raul Jimenez may need to wait for his second full Wolves debut, with the forward a late return this summer following his exploit at the World Cup.

The Mexican came off the bench against Port Vale, though Adam Armstrong may continue to lead the line against his former team. Armstrong scored 64 goals in 164 games for Blackburn and was named Championship Player of the Season in 2020/21 while at Ewood Park.

Ladislav Krejci has also returned from World Cup duty and is pushing for inclusion. Elsewhere, new signing Rafiki Said is currently sidelined by a knee injury.
