Willian is understood to be ‘keen’ on returning to Chelsea this summer following a disappointing season since signing for Arsenal.
The Brazil international made the cross-capital switch to north London last summer following Chelsea‘s refusal to hand the experienced star a three-year deal, signing for the Gunners on a free transfer with his arrival deemed as somewhat of a coup.
The 32-year-old has struggled to make an impact since arriving at the Emirates, however, scoring just one league goal in a disappointing campaign as Mikel Arteta’s side finished the season in eighth.
According to Sky Sports, Willian is now eyeing a potential return to Chelsea with Arsenal unlikely to stand in the player’s way should he wish to depart this summer, whilst a number of clubs in Europe and MLS outfit Inter Miami are reportedly monitoring his situation.
Chelsea had been keen to extend the Brazilian’s stay at Stamford Bridge last summer, though the club’s refusal to alter their stance on handing longer-term contracts to players over 30 led to his exit.
However, Willian’s exit came under the management of former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and with a wealth of wide options available in Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner, there appears little room for the re-signing of the star under Thomas Tuchel.
