West Ham have been handed a massive injury blow with the news that wingerย Andriy Yarmolenko will be out of action for six months after he ruptured his Achilles tendon.
The Ukrainian attacker went down in agony clutching his ankle during his sides 1-0 loss to Spursย on Saturday at the London Stadium and had to be stretchered off, despite having made no contact with an opposition player.
Speaking after the game West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini revealed that the player would be assessed to find out the severity of the injury, but the Mirror are now reporting that the 28-year-old is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Yarmolenko joined the Hammers this summer from Borussia Dortmund for an undisclosed fee and he made himself an instant hero with West Ham fans last month when he scored a superbly taken double away to Everton to hand his side their first Premier League win of the season.
