West Ham boss Pellegrini rues Yarmolenko injury in Spurs defeat

Manuel Pellegrini expressed his concern for Andriy Yarmolenko after the Ukrainian international was taken off on a stretcher today.

West Ham slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Spurs thanks to an Erik Lamela goal and some goalkeeping heroics from Hugo Lloris, with the Yarmolenko injury just adding salt in the wounds for The Hammers.

“We will see tomorrow after the medical examination,” Pellegrini said. “But we think it is something in his ankle and we will see what kind of injury it is.’’ He told the BBC.

“It was a pity because at this moment we have five injured players and four of them are midfielders so it’s not easy.”

Life at West Ham hasn’t been easy for Pellegrini so far, yet they did show a resurgence in form just a few weeks ago. If he can get over this rough patch and have his preferred eleven back fit-and-firing then results should improve at the London stadium.
