West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini insists his side are prepared for a difficult encounter when they host in-form Newcastle this weekend.
Rafael Benitez’s side have taken 10 points from their previous five fixtures to ease their relegation fears, and travel to The London Stadium following back-to-back home wins over Huddersfield and Burnley.
Hammers boss Pellegrini admits he is wary of the visitor’s form, and insists his side will have to play a ‘very good game’ if they are to get a result this weekend.
“Newcastle have won their last two games at home so they are in a good moment and we know we will have to play a very good game if we are to get the points here,” said Pellegrini at his pre-match press conference.
“Miguel Almiron had a very good time in America, he is a good player and I’m sure he will be successful here.”
West Ham head into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday night, with Pellegrini having rotated his squad with one eye on this weekend’s encounter.
“We have had less than 72 hours to prepare. We made some changes against City to have some players fresh for tomorrow.
“The problem is not when you have too many players, it’s when you don’t. We have four strikers fit, we have wingers too and we are prepared for the last part of the season.”
