West Ham are being linked with a move for Michy Batshuayi in the closing hours of the transfer window, with the striker having fallen well out of favour at Chelsea.
Batshuayi was heavily linked with a move to West Ham in 2016, but the Belgian striker opted for a move to Chelsea in a deal worth £33 million.
However, the Belgian hasn’t had the best of times since his move to Stamford Bridge, and despite scoring the goal that clinched the 2016/17 Premier League title, he found himself loaned out to Borussia Dortmund just six months later, being part of the triple deal involving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Olivier Giroud all swapping clubs last January.
Batshuayi got off to a great start in the Bundesliga, netting seven goals in 10 games, but he was eventually ruled out for the season after suffering a serious ankle injury.
He was once again loaned out in the summer, this time heading to La Liga side Valencia, although its safe to say that his time at the Mestalla was a disaster, scoring just three goals in 23 appearances for Los Che.
Now, with just over 24 hours until the transfer window closes, Sky Sports are reporting that West Ham have rekindled their interest in the 25-year-old, and will try to sign him on loan for the remainder of the season.
Despite the Hammers being ready to sign Maxi Gomez in a club record deal, the Uruguayan is not expected to arrive until the summer, meaning that could be left a little light up front for the remainder of this season. Marko Arnautovic appeared to suffer an injury in the 3-0 defeat to Wolves last night, while Valencia have claimed that West Ham are willing to sell Javier Hernandez.
The East London outfit are also thought to be in talks with Real Betis about letting Lucas Perez leave the club on a permanent deal.
