West Ham centre-back Issa Diop has revealed that he has a very good relationship with Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini.
France U21 international Diop arrived at the London Stadium in a ยฃ22 million deal from Ligue 1 side Toulouse at the start of the summer and has impressed after putting in a series of solid displays for the Hammers.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho described the 21-year-old as a โmonster,โ after he put in a commanding performance during his sides 3-1 win over the Red Devils at the end of October.
However, while Diop has admitted that it is nice to receive such praise, the only opinion that he is really interested in is that of West Ham manager Pellegrini.
“Of course it’s nice [to get praise from others],” Diop told FootMercato.
“But my coach is Manuel Pellegrini. So it’s his opinion that interests me the most. He advises me to continue to progress.
“We have a very good relationship. It’s a relationship of coach to player. When I do bad things, he tells me. And when it’s good, he does the same. The goal is for me to make progress.”
