Patrick Vieira has compared Crystal Palace midfielder Conor Gallagher to Frank Lampard, as the midfielder continues to impress during a season-long loan spell from Chelsea.
Gallagher signed for the Eagles on loan during the summer transfer window and has proven to be one of the signings of the season so far, scoring six goals and providing three assists for Vieira’s side so far this season.
The 21-year-old earned a first senior cap for England during November’s international break and has continued to impress in recent weeks, scoring twice – including a stunning stoppage-time second – as Crystal Palace beat Everton 3-1 on Sunday.
Gallagher’s box-to-box energy and improving finishing around goal has seen Vieira laud the midfielder as a ‘manager’s dream’, with the Palace boss believing the youngster has stylistic similarities to Chelsea legend Lampard.
“He is a manager’s dream,” Viera said at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Eagles clash with Southampton in the Premier League tomorrow evening.
“He has this passion for the game when he is on the field like a Ray Parlour but maybe he has the quality finishing of Frank Lampard.”
