Van Dijk: Liverpool only focusing on themselves and not Man City

Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk insists his side are focusing on themselves and not the results of league leaders Manchester City.

With both side’s currently unbeaten, Sunday’s dramatic late win over city rivals Everton reduced the gap to Pep Guardiola’s side back to two points, but Van Dijk insists Jurgen Klopp’s side are concentrated only on their own performances.

“We need to look at ourselves,” Van Dijk told the press after the Merseyside Derby.

“We have no need to look at City. We try to win all our games, that’s how we go into every game, and that’s the only way forward.

“Pressure is always at the club. That is a good thing. The season is very long. It is good to stay close to them but to win our games is the most important thing.

“We need to keep doing what we are doing, keep improving, and keep winning games – hopefully with good football.”

Liverpool next game see’s them travel to struggling Burnley on Wednesday night, whilst City visit Watford a day earlier.
