Thomas Tuchel says Conor Gallagher is in the ‘perfect place’ to continue his development as the Chelsea midfielder stars on loan at Crystal Palace.
Gallagher has produced a series of excellent performances since leaving Chelsea on loan last summer, scoring six goals and providing three assists in the Premier League for the Eagles this season.
The 21-year-old’s form saw him earn a call-up to the senior England squad during November’s international break, with Gallagher making his debut for the Three Lions as a substitute during the 10-0 win over San Marino.
Reports this week had suggested that Chelsea could consider recalling the midfielder in January, though The Athletic have since reported that the Blues are unable to bring the midfielder back before the end of the season.
Tuchel was asked on Gallagher’s recent showings and believes the academy graduate is in the ‘perfect place’ to continue his development at Selhurst Park.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Everton tomorrow, Tuchel said: “I have said many times we like Conor and we see his goals and contributions. There is no regret about letting him go on loan, it seems like it is the perfect place for him.
Tuchel also provided a fitness update on his squad ahead of the fixture with Rafael Benitez’s side, confirming that N’Golo Kante and Trevoh Chalobah are fit to return.
“N’Golo will be back on the bench tomorrow, while Trevoh Chalobah will be back in the squad. But Mateo Kovacic and Ben Chilwell are still out.
