Tottenham are monitoring Conor Gallagher’s contract situation at Chelsea and will launch a summer move to sign the midfielder if an extension is not agreed.

Gallagher will enter the final 12 months of his contract at Chelsea in the summer and there has so far been no agreement on a new deal.

The 24-year-old has been linked with an exit from West London in recent transfer windows and has turned down approaches from Everton and West Ham across the last 18 months.

After a mixed campaign last term, he been a key figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans since the Argentine’s arrival as manager in the summer.

Gallagher has started each Premier League fixture he has been available for this season and has found goalscoring form in recent games, scoring in victories at Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

Pochettino called Gallagher ‘priceless’ after the midfielder scored twice in the 3-1 win at Palace on Monday evening, but Chelsea face a decision on his future should new terms not be agreed.

Spurs are long-term admirers of the box-to-box midfielder and believes Gallagher’s energy and tenacious defensive work would be an ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

The sale of Gallagher would also help Chelsea address Profit and Sustainability concerns, with any funds received counted as complete profit due to the midfielder’s status as an academy product.
