Tottenham Hotspur face a true barometer of their progress under Thomas Frank this Saturday as they travel to face league leaders Manchester City.

Spurs arrive at the Etihad full of confidence after a superb 3-0 opening-day win over Burnley. This fixture against the reigning champions will reveal just how far the team has come since last season’s turmoil.

Tottenham Hotspur team news

After such a convincing performance last weekend, Thomas Frank has little reason to change a winning side and is expected to name the same starting eleven that defeated Burnley.

The attack will be led by the in-form Richarlison, who began the season with a spectacular man-of-the-match brace. He will be flanked by Brennan Johnson and new signing Mohammed Kudus, who also impressed.

Frank is likely to put his faith in the same young and dynamic midfield trio of Pape Matar Sarr, Archie Gray, and Lucas Bergvall. This means experienced players like Rodrigo Bentancur may have to settle for a place on the bench.

At the back, Djed Spence is expected to continue at left-back after getting the nod in the first game. Spurs are still without their key long-term absentees James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup

Tottenham Hotspur predicted XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Spence; Sarr, Palhinha, Bergvall; Kudus, Richarlison, Johnson.
