Atletico Madrid and Barcelona will meet in their last La Liga match before the November international break, with both sides chasing first place in the standings.
Atletico Madrid come into the game third in La Liga with 28 points from 11 matches, boosted by seven straight wins in the Spanish league. Their recent run includes tight 1-0 wins against Espanyol and Deportivo La Coruña, as well as a 2-0 away victory over Levante. However, their confidence took a knock in midweek when they lost 2-0 at home to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and they will now be looking to return to winning ways.
Atletico Madrid team news
Atlético face a major defensive problem ahead of the high-profile clash, with centre-back Cristian Romero unavailable because of a muscle injury.
Marc Pubill is likely to take his place alongside David Hancko in central defence, while Marcos Llorente and Alejandro Grimaldo are expected to occupy the full-back positions.
Diego Simeone does have encouraging news in midfield, though, as Morten Hjulmand, Johnny Cardoso, and captain Koke are all back in contention after injury problems.
Hjulmand is expected to start in central midfield beside Pablo Barrios, with Giuliano Simeone and Álex Baena likely to play on the wings. Up front, Kang-in Lee may join Julián Álvarez in attack, while Ademola Lookman could provide a strong alternative from the bench as Atlético aim to take all three points at home.
