Torreira admits West Ham win ‘was massive’ for Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has admitted that the Gunners 3-1 win over West Ham last weekend is a massive boost to his side’s confidence.

The North London club lost both their opening games of the season against Manchester City and Chelsea, so everybody associated with Arsenal was relieved that new boss Unai Emery got his first Premier League win at the Emirates last Saturday.

£26 million summer signing from Sampdoria Torrreira is yet to start a game for the Gunners, although he has impressed when coming on as a sub in all three of their games and the Uruguay international has revealed that he is settling in well at Arsenal.

“We got our first win which was massive for us, but there’s a long road ahead and a lot of games to play, so the best thing for us now is to rest up, focus on our next game and concentrate on our preparation, which is vital,” Torreira said in quotes carried by the London Evening Standard.

“The confidence will grow with every game, so that’s great.

“You train hard, you give your all and you want to improve. I want to start but any time I get on is very important for me.”
