Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic has effectively gone on strike to try and force through a move away from the Spanish giants.
25-year-old Croatia international Kovacic moved to the Bernabeu for £25 million in 2015 from Inter Milan, although rather unsurprisingly he has struggled to dislodge Los Blancos superb midfield triumphant of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Casemiro.
Kovacic announced before the World Cup that he would be looking to leave the Spanish capital this summer in search of regular first-team football and he has since been heavily linked with every member of the Premier League top six, although he is said to have refused the chance to move to Manchester United due to Jose Mourinho’s defensive style of play.

Spanish publication Marca are reporting that Kovacic has now refused to train with Real until his future is sorted, which is certainly curious timing considering that the English transfer window closes at 5pm this coming Thursday.
