Tielemans admits he’s flattered by interest from Manchester United and Spurs

Youri Tielemans admits he is flattered by speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United and Tottenham.

The Belgian international is tipped to leave French side Monaco this summer, having enjoyed an impressive loan spell in the Premier League with Leicester in the second half of last season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are keen on a permanent deal for the 22-year-old, however, they are likely to face competition from some of the division’s leading sides.

Manchester United are believed to be interested in the midfielder as a potential Paul Pogba replacement, with the Frenchman having been linked with an Old Trafford exit. Spurs are also said to be keen, with the North London club failing to replace Mousa Dembele after allowing the midfielder to leave for China in January.

When asked about his next move, Tielemans admitted that his future should become more clear in the ‘next few weeks’.

“We’ll see which club it will be,” he said in a press conference while on international duty.

“The only thing I can say is things are moving. A lot of clubs have shown interest. We will see in the next few weeks who it will be.”

Asked if he is flattered by interest from clubs such as Manchester United and Spurs, the midfielder admitted that such speculation gives him confidence.

“Yes [I am flattered], they are really big teams in England and in Europe,” he replied.

“To hear those names gives me confidence. I just try to play my game on the pitch and try my best.”
