The Premier League Transfer Rumour Mill – January 1 2024:
The words of Fabrizio Romano have become gospel to football fans in recent years and the all-knowing Italian is set for another month of screen time to make his optician wince.
The latest from the transfer market guru involves Fabio Carvalho’s return to Liverpool, with the midfielder having failed to earn the game time he was seeking on loan at RB Leipzig.

The 21-year-old could soon be on the move again, however, with promotion-chasing Leicester and Southampton among the clubs seeking to take over his temporary arrangement, according to Sky Sports.
Elsewhere in Romano’s rumour revealings is Manchester City’s chase for Claudio Echeverri, with the Premier League champions closing in on a deal to sign the highly-rated teenager from River Plate.
Arnaut Danjuma could be an outgoing from the Premier League after struggling for favour on loan at Everton, with Lyon keen to sign the Dutchman this month. West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer could join the winger in France, as Monaco lead the chase to sign the versatile German.
Football Insider’s gossip has Liverpool checking in on the progress of Michael Olise. The Crystal Palace winger is reportedly on the Reds’ shortlist of attacking options, as the Saudi Pro League prepares to throw another lump of cash in the direction of Mohamed Salah.

Meanwhile, West Ham are looking to end their sketchy recent history when it comes to signing strikers, with a move for Montpellier’s Akor Adams. Part of a talented group of Nigerian strikers emerging across Europe, the 23-year-old has scored seven Ligue 1 goals this season.
The January movers could also include Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson. The winger signed a new deal in the summer but has been on the outside looking in for much of the campaign, with Bukayo Saka a sizeable obstacle in his route to first-team football.
Reports from further afield include claims from Germany’s BILD that Wolves could allow Sasa Kalajdzic to return to the Bundesliga on loan. Eintracht Frankfurt are keen on a deal to sign the towering target-man, who has failed to get a look in as Hwang Hee-chan strengthens his Ballon d’Or chances at Molineux.
Finally, Crystal Palace are considering allowing Roy Hodgson to finally take his retirement, as the Eagles keep tabs on Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna. Brighton, aware Roberto De Zerbi has admirers among the elite, are also said to be keen, according to Football League World.
