The Premier League teams to win the most points in 2023

The New Year celebrations are in full swing as the world welcomes in 2024, with each of the Premier League clubs hoping for a prosperous and successful new year.

Manchester City were the major winners of last year as Pep Guardiola’s side hoovered up a host of major trophies, winning a historic treble – and first Champions League title – before adding the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup to the bursting trophy cabinet inside the Etihad.

The Citizens unsurprisingly won more Premier League points than any other side during the calendar year, though Aston Villa’s remarkable improvement under Unai Emery is evident with the Villans placed as runners-up across the 12 months.

In the hypothetical calendar year table, containing only teams who spent the entire year in the top-flight, Liverpool and Arsenal are tied on points to round out the Champions League places.

It’s bad news for Crystal Palace, however, who are bottom of the division. Chelsea, meanwhile, would have escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth had the Premier League been played over the calendar year. The big-spending Blues will hope for improved fortunes in 2024.

The Premier League teams to win the most points in 2023:

  1. Manchester City – 93 points
  2. Aston Villa – 85 points
  3. Liverpool – 81 points
