Swansea City have agreed a fee for Barnsley defender Alfie Mawson.
The defender has attracted plenty of interest this summer with Sunderland, Bristol City and Wolverhampton Wanderers also being linked with making a move for the centre back.
However, it is Swansea City who seem to have won the race to sign the 22-year old after agreeing a fee with the South Yorkshire club.
Barnsley of course have good pedigree when it comes to developing centre backs, with John Stones, now of Manchester City and Mason Holgate both securing moves to Everton in recent years. However, Barnsley can’t take all the credit for Mawson, who only joined the club from Brentford last summer.
The fee is believed to be in the region of £5million.
