Raheem Sterling has hailed Pep Guardiola’s ‘mentality’ after Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions.
City’s 4-1 win at Brighton on the final day saw them secure back-to-back titles, becoming the first side since Manchester United in 2009 to defend their crown.
The win was the latest success for boss Guardiola, who has now won eight league titles in ten years as a manager over spells at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City.
England international Sterling was full of praise for the Spaniard, hailing the 48-year-old’s winning ‘mentality’.
“I’m just delighted, this is exactly what I came to the club for, to win trophies and be in these moments,” Sterling told Sky Sports.
“The manager here, his mentality is the best. It’s always about winning. It’s the way he sets us up. I’m happy to be here learning and winning.
“As a manager, he’s got multiple players in each position challenging each other. No one is comfortable here but everyone is ready to take their chance – like Riyad today. He’s not played much recently but I knew he was going to score today.
“It’s been a lovely season after a difficult World Cup. Hopefully I can go one better next year.”
During his appearance on our Podcast this week, we asked Chris Waddle who was the most over rated player you played against?
We all nearly fell off our chairs when he gave his answer… 😮 pic.twitter.com/nWEkCacpCS
