Spurs boss Pochettino happy ‘to get job done’ against Southampton

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says his side’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Wednesday night was ‘job done’ after a difficult run of fixtures for his side.

Goals from Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Son earned Spurs the win at Wembley, a result which lifted the club into third after both Arsenal and Chelsea dropped points.

Tottenham, who lost the North London derby at the weekend, move back into the Champions League places after a difficult run of games which saw them play Chelsea, Inter Milan and Arsenal this past week.

“It was a difficult game after last week, when we played three big games.’’ Pochettino told BBC’s MOTD.

“We started the second half really well. It’s true that Southampton created, we conceded more chances than them, so it’s unlucky for them because they had good chances to score.

“Hugo Lloris was man of the match and that’s something I’m disappointed about. We conceded more chances than against Arsenal. But I feel it was job done and I’m happy with the three points.”

Tottenham are next in action when they travel to face Leicester City at The King Power Stadium in Saturday’s late kick-off.
