Solskjaer wary of ‘dangerous’ Granada ahead of Europa League quarter-final

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he is wary of the threat posed by a ‘dangerous’ Granada side ahead of Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final second leg.

United face the Spanish side in the return fixture of their last eight meeting tomorrow evening, holding a comfortable advantage after a 2-0 win in their first encounter last week.

Solskjaer’s side will start as strong favourites to reach the Europa League’s semi-finals for a second successive season, though the Norwegian says he is taking nothing for granted despite his side’s lead and says ‘it’s all up for grabs’ ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

“We know Granada will come here and give everything they have got, so we have to try and dominate the ball and carry on,” Solskjaer told his pre-match press conference.

“Momentum is big in football and hopefully the players will enjoy the game. It is a quarter final in Europe and of course they [Granada] have to score goals.

“We have seen them against Barcelona and Real Madrid how dangerous they can be. If they come and press us, we have to be ready for that.

“If they sit back and do not counter attack, we have to play those circumstances. It is all up for grabs.”

United will be without a number of key players tomorrow evening with Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay all missing through suspension, whilst Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic are both one caution away from a suspension.

Solskjaer confirmed he will make several changes to the side for the clash with Granada and has added academy graduates Will Fish and Anthony Elanga to the club’s B list for the Europa League.

“There will be a few changes,” he added.

“Some of them are forced and some of them are maybe rotation.

“We are going into a game having to do everything we need to do to win. If there is a tackle to be won, it has to be won. Just play the game properly, no token gestures and we will be fine.”
