Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has tipped Anthony Martial to start showing his very best form, saying the Manchester United forward is looking ‘happier’.
The Frenchman recently returned to the Manchester United side following an injury sustained in the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in August, scoring in the 3-1 win over Norwich last weekend, though he did also miss a penalty in that game in East Anglia.
During his pre-match press conference on Friday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that Martial’s return had helped Marcus Rashford to flourish, the England forward being allowed play off the Frenchman in a wider role or as a pair.
Going on to speak about the returning 23-year-old, Solskjaer said that the Man Utd No. 9 has an ‘infectious’ attitude among the United squad.
“Anthony looks happier,” said Solskjaer. “He’s such an infectious boy – his smile and his sense of humour. That rubs off on everyone. It’s great to see.”
Solskjaer has previously called upon his forwards to score more ‘scruffy’ goals, with Martial recently suggesting he wants to rise to his manager’s challenge, the Norwegian tipping the former Monaco man to start showing his ‘best’ form over the coming years.
“He is looking more and more like a player that wants to score goals and not just showing his tricks,” Solskjaer added.
“He’s a player who has matured a lot, his behaviour on the training ground as well. I believe we’re going to see the best of him in the next few years.”
