Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take inspiration from former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as he begins his reign as the club’s caretaker manager.
The Norwegian has been appointed as caretaker manager at United following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal this week, and takes charge of the side for the first time for Saturday’s trip to Cardiff.
Solskjaer spent spent 11 seasons playing under the Scot at Old Trafford, and insists the legendary manager has been a major influence on his managerial career thus far.
“He’s influenced me with everything.’’ Solskjaer told his pre-match press conference.
“The way he’s dealt with people, the way he was manager of the club, how he kept 25 international players happy and hungry, wanting to improve, and the staff.
“He’s been my mentor. I didn’t understand early on he would be my mentor. Ever since my injury in 2003, I was making all the notes what he did in certain situations.
“I’ve already been in touch with him – there’s no one better to get advice from.”
