Marco Silva says Everton deserved more praise after their 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United last weekend.
Everton continued their strong end of season form by hammering Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at Goodison Park, with goals from Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott securing a comprehensive win.
Much of the post-match reaction was focused on United’s struggles, with defeat on Merseyside their sixth in eight fixtures in all competitions.
Everton boss Silva was unhappy that his side did not get enough credit following the victory, saying he believed the win was one of their best performances of the season.
“It is up to you (the media) to give the right credit and to look for both teams, not just for one,” Silva told a pre-match press conference.
“But I cannot change anything, it’s not my job.
“What I can tell you and it is easy for me to understand is when we didn’t achieve the good results, it’s because it’s our fault. Maybe when we achieve good results it’s because it’s the fault of the others.
“You analyse the game, I do my job and analyse the game with my players. When things are going wrong I’m the first one to take responsibility and when we achieve good results it’s up to us to analyse the game.
“I don’t know if (the win over United) was the best (performance of the season) or not, it was one of the best.
“We did really well, we performed well, we were clinical and assertive in the last third and in important moments of the match.”
Everton face Crystal Palace away this afternoon.
