Paul Pogba was part of the France side that defeated Belgium 1-0 tonight to qualify for the World Cup final.
Les Blues midfielder Pogba was widely praised after the game for putting in a performance of real maturity and discipline, somewhat of a contrast to home hhe has played at club level.
Premier League all time leading goalscorer Alan Shearer declared the game in St Petersburg that the 25-year-old is playing with a freedom for his Country that is lacking when he plays at club level for Manchester United:
“I think he plays with a freedom in this French team,” Shearer told the BBC.
“If he makes a mistake, alright it’s accepted.
“Whereas, when he makes a mistake in a United shirt, he looks as if he’s kind of scared to make another one.
“He doesn’t look scared in a French shirt.”
Pogba rejoined United in what was a then World Record £89 million deal from Juventus in the summer of 2016, although he has struggled to produce his best form on a consistent basis, and his relationship with his manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly become strained due to his lack of tactical discipline.
France will now face either Croatia or England in the World Cup final next Sunday in Moscow.
