Saul Niguez willing to ‘push’ for £40m Man Utd move

Saul Niguez is reportedly willing to ‘push’ for a move to Manchester United this summer amid interest in the Atletico Madrid midfielder from the Premier League.

Niguez is understood to be on the Red Devils’ shortlist of options as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks midfield reinforcements, though the club are set to face competition from both Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

Atletico are willing to listen to offers for the Spain international as the newly-crowned La Liga champions seek to raise funds for their own recruitment, with the 26-year-old possessing a release clause of around £60m in his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano.

According to the Star, however, a fee of £40m could be enough to persuade Atletico to sell and Niguez is prepared to ‘push’ for a move to Manchester with the Premier League his preferred destination.

The midfielder has made 337 appearances for Atletico since coming through the club’s academy ranks, winning two Europa League titles and the Copa del Rey alongside this season’s La Liga triumph.

United are now considering a move for the player alongside alternatives including Declan Rice and Ruben Neves, whilst the club will also press on with plans to sign a new centre-back and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
