Saudi clubs aiming to ‘tempt’ N’Golo Kante away from Chelsea

N’Golo Kante is the latest high-profile name to be subject of an approach from the Saudi Pro League with Al Ittihad and Al Nassr interested in signing the Chelsea midfielder.

Kante is out of contract at Chelsea this summer and will leave the club as a free agent if an extension is not agreed, with negotiations having stalled despite being close to an agreement earlier this season.

The France international is keen to sign a new deal at Chelsea, but the two parties have not reached an agreement to date.

Kante has struggled with fitness issues in recent seasons and was restricted to 520 minutes of Premier League football last season, a situation which is likely to have impacted negotiations between Chelsea and his representatives.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the 32-year-old is set to receive lucrative proposals from the Middle East, as Saudi sides look to invest in high-profile names and grow the domestic league.

Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Al Nassr in January after leaving Manchester United and the club are keen to add Kante to their squad ahead of next season, while Al Ittihad want to unite the midfielder with former France team-mate Karim Benzema after agreeing a deal to sign the Real Madrid forward.

Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Hugo Lloris are among the other big names to have been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer.
