Sarri reveals he wants to ‘have fun’ at Chelsea

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has revealed that he wants his clubs fans and players to enjoy the style of football he is aiming to implement at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri is famed for his progressive possession based approach to the game. The 59-year-old coach turned his former side Napoli into one of the most attractive teams in Europe to watch during his three year reign in Southern Italy, and he believes that this is why Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was so keen to make him the Blues new manager earlier this summer.

“It’s important if I like it, first of all,” Sarri said in his pre-match press conference ahead of his sides Premier League encounter against Newcastle this afternoon.

“I want to enjoy, I want to have fun, press the ball. Then, if I enjoy the game, maybe the supporters enjoy the game. I think that, if the team enjoy the game, they’ve had a lot of opportunities to win the match.

“I think he [Roman Abramovich] knows it. If they called me to be manager 40 days ago, I think it’s because they wanted to see my football here. It’s not easy, but I have to try.”
