Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has criticised the quality of refereeing in the Premier League after seeing his side beaten 2-0 at Liverpool on Sunday.
Chelsea’s top four hopes took a blow at Anfield, with goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah lifting Liverpool back above Manchester City at the top of the division.
Sarri admits the hosts deserved their win, but criticised the level of refereeing in the Premier League believing their was a foul on full-back Emerson in the build up to Mane’s opener.
“In my opinion there was a foul on Emerson, but I think the level in Premier League is the best in the world but not for the referees. I think the level of the referees is not in line with the championship,” Sarri told his post match press conference.
“Maybe the referee was right, I don’t want to say anything about it, but my feeling from the bench was that there was a foul. But, of course Liverpool deserved to win.”
