Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri says Eden Hazard deserved to be named in the PFA Team of the Year.
Despite being amongst the nominees for the Player of the Year award, Chelsea star Hazard was a surprise omission when the Team of the Year was revealed this week.
The team was dominated by players from title contenders Liverpool and Manchester City, with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba the only representative not from either of those clubs.
Hazard has enjoyed a scintillating season for Sarri’s side, scoring 16 league goals, whilst the 28-year-old also leads the league for assists with 13.
Sarri says he believes Hazard should have been included, but believes Chelsea’s fourth-placed position in the table will have influenced the votes.
”Eden deserved to be in the top XI of the Premier League, but I also think the table is clear,” Sarri told the press ahead of his side’s trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.
”There is City, there is Liverpool, and then the other teams. The vote was influenced by the table.”
