Sarri discusses ‘wonderful player’ Higuain

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has praised AC Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain describing the striker as a ‘wonderful player’.

The Italian managed the 31-year-old during their time together at Napoli, and has been linked with a move for the Argentine in the January transfer window. Higuain scored 91 goals in 146 appearances in Naples, before leaving to join Serie A rivals Juventus in 2016.

‘I like him very much. He’s a wonderful player, he’s a wonderful man but I don’t want to talk about Higuain because I have two-and-a-half strikers at the moment and Gonzalo is playing for AC Milan so it’s better not to talk about him at the moment.’ Sarri told his Friday press conference.

Sarri is believed to be interested in strengthening his frontline with Eden Hazard having been used in a ‘false 9’ role in recent weeks.

Reports this week have suggested misfiring forward Alvaro Morata could be used in a potential swap deal to bring Higuain to Stamford Bridge.
