Manchester City midfielder Rodri admits title rivals Liverpool are the ‘best team in England and in Europe’.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have begun the new season in impressive form, winning eight consecutive league fixtures to open up an eight-point advantage at the top of the Premier League.
Last weekend’s defeat at Wolves leaves Man City with a significant gap to close heading into the international break, as they bid to win a third successive league title under Pep Guardiola’s guidance this season.
The two sides have enjoyed a growing rivalry having emerged as English football’s best in recent seasons, and £62 million midfielder Rodri admits the European champions are ‘the team to beat’ at present.
Asked by ESPN if City supporters see Liverpool or Man Utd as their biggest rivals, the Spaniard said: “I don’t know.
“I had never been in the city before, I don’t know how people in the city feel.
“But the team to beat is Liverpool now and that has been for the last two seasons. They are the champions of Europe so everyone wants to beat them, not just us.
“They’re a great team, they have improved a lot of things, they’re a very good team, and they’re the best team in England and in Europe.”
