Revealed: The England star who’s created more chances than Messi and Hazard at the World Cup

Let’s be honest before the World Cup kicked off in Russia on June 14, few football fans would have predicted that any England player, let alone one of Gareth Southgate’s defenders would have created more chances than top class attacker like Lionel Messi and Eden Hazard.

However, that is exactly how things have turned out, with Spurs and England wing back Kieran Trippier tied for third place in the ‘chances created’ category so far this summer.

According to the Daily Mail only Brazil superstar Neymar and Belguim’s mercurial playmaker Kevin de Bruyne have actually laid on more chances for their team-mates than the former Burnley man.

Although Trippier’s stats may be slightly skewed due to the fact Gareth Southgate has appointed him as the Three Lions corner and free-kick specialist, it is still a massive achievement for a player who only has 10 international caps and only became a first team regular for Spurs this season.

Trippier, who has been one of England’s stand out players at the World Cup, will get the chance to add to his already impressive tally of chances created when the Three Lions face Sweden in the quarter-final this Saturday.
